    Dakar service - Cape Town

Howsit Dogs, I will be back in CPT end of April for a couple weeks RnR and would like to have my Dakar serviced before then. I would like to avoid taking it to BMW if possible. When I left CPT end of 2012, Shane was the Dakar man and working for Yamaha at the time, is he still there? Or who...

    Alpinestar Tech 8 boots

Alpinestar Tech 8 - US Size 9 Some cosmetic damage, no structural damage. Bought off a forum member, too small for me. I have suspicions that they aren't originally the same pair, but both are the same size and they look hardcore. R600

    Dakar tires

Who's got what on their Dakar? And does it work?  Once my Anekee's come to their end I'm going to move to something more off road. I'm thinking E 07 on the back but what works nicely on the front? TKC? I'm open to any suggestions and ideas  :thumleft:

    While you all were bashing...

… I went for a little solo Cederberg trip, leaving bright and early Saturday morning. I really need to invest in a smaller sleeping  bag, tent and roll mat.   Through a wet Bainskloof to Ceres Defrosted myself and filled the tank in Ceres then over Gydo enroute to Op Die Berg...

    Smaller bike options?

I'm thinking of getting a smaller bike - Don't get me wrong, I have loved every moment on the Dakar! She's been my wheels over the past 7 months but as of late I've been using her as a weekend toy as well, and this has been getting a bit pricey to say the least. Also a Dakar does not make the...

CPT to Langebaan - Off the beaten track

Is there any way to get from CPT to Langebaan doing minimal tar and avoiding the R27 as much as possible. Maybe roads closer to the coast or a bit more in land - preferably gravel or saaand  :mwink: Ive seen a sand track that runs alongside the R27 for long stretches, has anyone ever ridden this?

Dakar doesn't feel like holding onto its bolts

Over the weekend my dakkie has shaken some bolts loose, I seem to remember reading somewhere a while back that this tends to happen? What is the cure here? Lock-tight onto the bolts? If so can you recommend a product? Also are there any bolts known to do this that I should give a once over...

    Dakar Headlamp - Help needed

So a while back my headlamp came loose due to a slight encounter with a fence... ??? I did a McGuyver jobbie on it but this wont hold the vibrations of gravel road, as I found out this weekend. How could I do a more permanent fix? It seems to me the plastic fittings have worn away and the...

WANTED - Advice on a "mess around bike"

I'm looking for a bike to play around on and improve my riding skill, something I don't have to worry about parts breaking and that I can repair and service myself (to a certain extent). I'm based in Stellenbosch so most of the riding would be playing around in the forests, macassar sand mine...

    Disabling ABS - I'm lazy!

I know exactly how to engage and disable the ABS on my 2004 Dakar but I was wondering is there a way in which one can disable it for longer periods of time so that if for instance I know I will be riding without ABS for an entire day, I don't have to keep disabling it every time I restart the...

    New Stellenbosch Dog

Hi all! Been lurking a bit so its time to step up! I'm brand new to the adventure biking scene but was introduced a couple years ago by a step dad who is a devout GS's rider. Always has been, always will be. Now its finally my turn to step up, armed with my very own second hand BMW Dakar...
