I had the same problem with mine a while back. In the end it was a loose battery terminal causing my problems. Maybe it is the same in your case?

That really sucks. I did mine a few weeks ago and the only time I was asked to stop on the centre of the cross was with the first manouver. With the emergency stop you get points deducted the further you stop from your initial stopping point but it is definately not a fail afaik.

I passed mine 2 weeks ago without any classes. What helped me was that I downloaded the test. Try and find it otherwise I can upload it again for you. Luckily the speedcop was very helpful and explained every manouvre required in great detail.

I must say it is the first year that I actually followed the Dakar and it is 100% due to this thread. Thanks to all the contributers.

Does anyone maybe have a rear master brake cylinder for a 2003 BMW Dakar that they would like to sell? I am also looking for a rear brake disk.

I have a standard Dakar seat that I maybe would like to swop. The only problem is that I am situated in Saldanha.

Ek het nou al 2 keer dieselfde problem gehad. Eerste keer het die agter wiel als afgeruk toe ek `n dip slaan. Ek is al bang as ek die mountings stywer vasdraai dat hulle sal afbreek.

Thanks. I will try and take it apart this weekend. Hopefully it isn't too bad and some lubrication will sort it out.

Can someone maybe give me some advice? It seems that my rear break caliper is stuck/seized since it doesn't float. How difficult is it to open it up in order to clean and lubricate the pins? Any advice would be apreciated.

After lurking for a while I should better introduce myself.  :) I stay in Saldanha and ride a 2003 Dakar. After growing up on a farm with a Suzuki TF185 and a Honda XL500 I couldn't stay away from bikes for too long. Looking forward to being part of the forum. Adriaan
