I bought my 2 bike trailer from Osborne. He made it with a chequer plate base instead of the expanded metal. Absolutely no problem with bike wheels sliding. I would definitely go with the front wheel locators if you regularly load the trailer alone. The locators hold the bike in upright...

Def no misconception this morning... it was -4 in Vryberg early this morning, and the locals here in Bray tell me  it will be -6  tomorrow morning. Definitely not the norm for sure.
