Hi there My dakar started dying at robots on idle. It starts right away then again. There is no problem when I ride only on idle. Can it be the fuel pressure regulator? If so, do I have to go to BMW for a new one at R2000? Thanks for the help.

Hi There My Dakar has been eating rear brake pads, as per the photo attached the one pad is finished and the other one is still new. I don't really suspect the disc as it is smooth with no issues. Can it be the caliper that is not "floating"? If it is the caliper, what can be done? Thanks...

Hi there I have always used the oil the BMW dealer sells but they dont sell it anymore. Can I use any 10W40 oil? Also other bike shops sell it for R140 a liter which is actually more expensive than the new technology oil the BMW dealer sells. Can I buy from Midas any 10W40? Thanks

Hi Guys My Dakar turns 100 000 soon. What do you think specifically needs to be serviced? Nothing at the moment is giving any issues. Normal stuff would be oils and filters but what about fuel pressure regulator, waterpump gears, crank bearings, timg chain tensioner? Thanks for your input.

Hi Guys There was a thread about a clutch replacement a while ago.  Mine has 90 000km on, it is still fine, but I don't know for how long anymore. I got a quote from BMW for about R3500 just for the parts without fitment.  Can I buy a clutch elsewhere? What can I do?

Hi there My heated grips on my dakar is wearing through so much so that you can see the small wires inside the rubber. Do I have to go to the dealers for replacements? Or does someone else stock it as well? How easy is it to fit the new ones once I have them. The grips lasted 90 000km. Thanks

Hello Underneath the "nose" of the 650 GS there is a small arched mud flap attached to the fork of the standard 650 GS. Does that mud flap fit the Dakar as well, as the wheel of the Dakar in front is larger than the normal 650? If it does fit does anyone have a mud flap like that for me? ...
