Thanks to all for the advice! Just thought I'd give an update, we ended up getting her a Honda XR125. Seems to have decent brakes, the power is ummm... less than awe-inspiring but enough for a first bike to learn on! Will have 1st lesson this weekend so here's hoping it goes well...  :thumleft:

Cheesy, thanks for that story - I'm sure it will inspire her! Any comments on the Chinese makes such as: MotoMia terra-strada TS250, Zongeshen ZSM 200, Bashan Xplode 250, etc...? Are they really so unreliable? ???

The Girlfriend and I recently decided to get into the dual-sport scene. I ran off and got myself a BMW 650 Dakar, but we are struggling to select a good starter bike for her. She has never ridden a motorbike before and is relatively short (1.65m / 5ft4"). I dont want anything big that will scare...
