John asked me to thank everybody for their advice.  As the oil usage is quite severe (and the bike visibly smokes a lot) he's going for the 1 size overbore and new piston and rings. Thanks agaiN!

Hi! Friend of mine (Not a WD) bought this bike from an advert on the forum:  https://wilddog.net.za/forum/index.php?topic=70544.0 It unfortunately uses quite a bit of oil.  Who knows when KLR had the oil usage problem, and what the problem was. ie how to fix it. Is it just a rings/piston...
