Two tire sets for XR650L feasible?

Thanks @BuRP. Appreciate that advice. I'm not interested in the looks, if I was I'd have a KTM. And I am technically an old millennial, so not sure if that's young for you. @LouisXander because I thought having "road" tyres would make the commute a little less punishing and thought road based...

Two tire sets for XR650L feasible?

Hi. I use my 650L for commuting (on tar) a lot more than I use it on dirt. Please forgive me this mortal sin. One day when I am a big boy I will buy a second commuter bike, but until then... I already have a spare rear rim, so I figured I could get a spare front rim, and then have two sets, one...

    Takasago excel rims bolts

I've got a spare takasago excel rim that I want to fit to my Honda xr650l. I'm going to keep the current rear sprocket and just switch it over. However the OEM bolts for mounting the sprocket to the rim are too big. Any ideas where I could find these bolts at short notice? I.e. on Monday. They...

Noob Help (is sprocket worn, any tips replacing rear wheel?)

Is it advisable to spray WD40 into the spacer / seal for the wheel? The brake disc side spare wont budge. I mean it spins, but I can't pull it out. Sprocket side spacer comes out nice n easy. It's a brand new takasago excel rim as far as I can see.

XR650L Crankcase / Alternator Guard Install

Howdy. I've got a crankcase guard to install and a simple, possibly silly, question: Will loosening and removing the bolts (currently the stock ones) on the underside of the crankcase cover cause any oil leakage? I.e. should I prep for an oil change too when I install it? Thanks!

Prevalence (if any) of Motorcycle Theft in Cape Town

I was wondering what the general consensus is as to bike theft in Cape Town, particularly around the city of cape town and surrounding suburbs. Is there much of it? Do I need to be concerned about leaving my bike in plain view on, say Long street, for the whole day? I lived in London, UK for a...

    LF: Red Acerbis 23l tank - xr650l

So I got my acerbis tank from flying brick (thanks gents). But god damn it is a bitch to fit. I've managed to get it all screwed in, and I'm a bit mechanically inept, but the stress on that front bracket must be pretty heavy. No wonder there are aftermarket brackets to replace the stock ones...

Cape Town to Malgas route planning help (beginner level)

Hi I'm looking for any general advice for a Cape Town to Malgas route. I'm an absolute novice adventure rider, never really ridden dirt before and will be riding on my own, so not looking for anything technical. That said, I'm keen to ride as much "gentle" dirt as possible just to start...

    Customs tariffs and duties

Sorry to resurrect a long dead thread, but hoping for some clarification. I may order some parts for my Honda XR650L (sutton oil cooler, temperature gauge dipstick) from the US. Some googling, and the earlier info in this thread, leads me to the section 87.14 titled "Parts and accessories of...

Fuel tank and top rack recommendations

Howdy Looking to possibly get the Acerbis 21 litre tank for my 2012 XR650L. Ideally the translucent colour that allows you to see the fuel level. I will potentially get from mxalliance, but it is a butt clenching R6500, so figured I'd check here if anyone knows a better avenue? Also weighting...
