I would suggest that with with the drive on bikes and bikers as a whole, that the law would come down on this technique - If you speed and get caught take the consequences - a flap as a numberplate must surely be illegal -  i am sure the wording of the law would be that the numbers must at all...

If on the dirt  - or tar i suppose - position tyre below your mates sidestand and push down - that will also break the bead very nicely.
