long time for posting a ride report from our side... just been waaaay to busy at work.
we were very lucky with relatively cool weather this past weekend in the Karoo.

just a note... in the older generation Garmin's saving a track means to reduce the breadcrumbs to only 500. regardless of the length of the track. but ja the latest gps's like the montana archives your tracks... and even if you delete your active tracks... it still has them in the GPX folder.
oja... you must test how long it takes to fill up... not to sure about it. but my 2gig sd card lasts for most trips that are sometimes more than a week long... although I dont record them at once second.
cool man, I also use a etrex... recently upgraded from my vista to a etrex 20.
you can record as much as your sd card can handle... but these tracks are saved separably form your "active logs" that are saved to the internal memory (that is limited).
you must goto the "data card setup"...
