If you have this problem ( more noticible with an aftermarket pipe )
The 08 KLR,s have a secondary air system that allows air into the exhaust through the head on deceleration , this then ignites any unburnt fuel .
With a standard pipe it is not too noticible , but can shoot flames out the bike with an aftermarket pipe .
The secondary system can be blocked of or disconnected , you will find it under the right shroud .
The thin pipe is the vacuum pipe from the carb which you pull of the system and push something inside to block it and put it back . The large pipe running from the system to the head can also be taken off and blocked and put back .
Made a big difference on my bike now with occasional not so scary popping .
