From Motoring.co.za:

Two brothers from Craddock in the Eastern Cape showed some Vukaneering spirit when they recently tackled the Baviaanskloof on a pair of Vuka XL110 scoots.

Eben and Andre Bosman set off on a round trip from Patensie just for fun - and to prove that Vukas can do some hard riding too.

En route to their first stop at Bokloof Guest Farm, the intrepid brothers travelled through Poortjies, confident that the Vukas could ignore the advisory road signs and even passing a couple of four-wheelers along the way.

The rest of their 500km journey traversed rivers, cattle grids and bumpy gravel roads with the Vukas going full-out and showing no signs of tiring. They're real die-hards even though we rode them as hard as you would a proper dirt bike.

With only a standard bakkie as back-up, the two even subjected the Vukas to the awesome Baviaanskloof and Grootrivierpoort passes, earning the admiration of fellow travellers in sturdy 4x4 vehicles who decided to turn back when they saw road signs warning of the poor road condition.

At the end of their adventure Eben was adamant that the Vuka XL110 was quite remarkable.

"They're real die-hards even though we rode them as hard as you would a proper dirt bike. Averaging about 70km/h, the frame, suspension and body panels all stayed together with no punctures.

"A missing mirror and temporary failure of the fuel gauge and indicators due to loose connections, were the only problems on the trip," said Bosman, who is already planning his next Vuka adventure to Tiffendal this summer.

The Bosman brothers are following in the tyre tracks of many keen Vuka riders who have successfully tackled long journeys including into The Hell, from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town, round trips from East London to Johannesburg in aid of charity and to Mozambique.
