90's DR250sh Suzuki Height control removal

I'm struggling to find a DR350 shock or for that matter one that will fit on the DR250sh japan import with the Suzuki Height Control system. I'm going to post a couple of pics of the removed system and would like some input how to keep the shock and usd forks but.....not being able set set the height anymore to keep the bike a bit higher as it sits low.

There is not much info in any manual for the dr250/350 or on Japanese sites for that matter as the system was not so successful. Now I have seen a yank lifting the bike on a bike step stand with both wheels off the ground. Loosen the thumb screws and left it for  a couple of hours for the air to get out and filled it with a 15W oil with great results.....He never shared how he removed the hydraulic oil system and what holes he plugged.

Does anyone want to share some logic?
