A few weeks ago Theunis Nel of Woema phoned me about information regarding accomodation in Baviaans and the "hel" Gamkaskloof. I told him Id like to ride with them to Gamkaskloof. Phoned him late Fridayafternoon wanting to know were we meet. You can meet us on the Willowmoreroad 24 kms from Klaarstroom, but please pick up a tappetcover at BM in George!! He had a fall in Baviaans and to ride the next day he needed the tappetcover. They wanted to leave early and I worked out I had about 300km to the meetingpoint. I left at 5.15 for George. It was chilly for Oct.
The sun coming out in Mosselbay.
It was cold when I got to Lyolo the guestfarm they were staying at.
After the tappetcover was fitted. It was an old and scraped one. The GSA looked like a caferacer with the screen off!!
Jan du Toit and HentieBM practising how to do a hug!! or something!! I met quite a few WDs on this trip. HentieBM, Tulie and his wife Carien and Big H. Believe me his name is true. His 1200 GSA looks like a 50cc under him!! It was good you meet you all.
From there we rode through Meiringspoort, filled up in De Rust and took the Oudemuragieroad to Swartbergpas.
Always a stunning view.
These two boys were from Calitzdorp. Some 200cc Chinese scrambler. This is how the travelingbug bites for all of us I think. In my case it was with a Honda MT5.
Theunis and the caferacer.
HentieBm and his pillion. Hochland BMW sponsered the trip.
HentieBMs pillion(sorry forgot her name) had to use Oom Koos se klip for a wee!
I was taking it slow. Always amazing how this road was built by only a small bulldozer and a few laborers.
We all had too much to eat.
Tannie Annatjie" wie wil nog hê?!!"
Everybody getting ready to ride again.
This is the last pic I took. At the T junction going to Prins Albert and Oudtshoorn I said goodbye to the guys and left for Oudtshoorn.
Left Oudtshoorn at 6.20. I knew I was in for some darkriding which I do not like. Especially on weekends.
Got home at 8. I rode 741kms for the day and met some nice people. Damn but I was tired today!!!
Thanks for reading.
