Hi all,
I have been doing some research on what is the most practical motorcycle to take into Africa for an adventure around the great lakes regions and back to SA.
The most common response is smaller and lighter (650cc) compared to bigger (800-1200cc) and I know it's about what you are comfortable and capable with but as a GS1200 and GS1250 ADV rider, there have been a few missed opportunities of going down an interesting trail or washed-out roadway as I just did not have the patients at the time to spend the next few hours picking my bike up hehehe. Fancy electronics have also left us stranded next to the road (1250GS) which just required a reset on a laptop at the dealer. So that is also a factor i want to consider.
So my question is which of the following bikes would you equip as your go to go anywhere "africa" bike? I have narrowed my liking to the following three:
1. GS800ADV or newer GS850ADV
2. Tenerre 660 or newer T7
3. Old KLR or new KLR when it comes out
4. any other suggestions
