Asymetrical Hub/Rim Offset

I'm replacing my rear wheel with a wider, spoked wheel. In order to keep front/rear alignment I want to rebuild the wheel so the hub sits 12mm left of centre in the rim

I know it works for mountain bikes and wooden wheels on horse carts - is it okay on a motorbike?  atch:
