Baviaanskloof: Transit time and state of the track?

I'm taking a solo ride from PE to Plett this Friday. Considering either the R62 to Avontuur, then Prince Alfred's Pass R339 & R340
or:  Baviaanskloof to the N9, then Uniondale, Avontuur and Prince Alfred's Pass, etc

Does anyone have recent info on transit time for Baviaanskloof and track condition?  Will the latter be too long for one day? I'm fine but slow on technical sections.
