I registered OCT 2011 but always only read a lot of posts. Some were interesting and a lot were not. I am not a person that sits constantly at the laptop and gives silly comments live is too short for that I rather ride. The bike specific posts I like and most probably could have added a lot of insight especially with the Yamaha XT 660 Tenere, Super Tenere, KTM 690 Enduro and 990 having owned them and sold the big ones So anybody needing info let me know see if I can assist.
A few pictures of my 660 that is not very standard anymore. I really think it was a bullet proof bike I rode twice Kaokoland, once Brandberg and Ugab river and surrounds, 5 south Nam trips, Lutzville to Groenrivier, Old Postal Route,3 Baviaans trips and countless Tankwa Sederberg and Southern Cape trips. Besides punctures I never had a breakdown except a chain break.
The engine still sounds like new did valve adjustment once timing chain is still original. Uses very little oil. I had to replace cracked swing arm and weld the frame that cracked on the left side, old problem.
The suspension is prehistoric and the wheels are like lead and just as soft. So off they came. Excel rims Talon hubs and WR 450F front suspension with single disc. The weight is now in the region of 180kg much more manageable. :
