Best Tyres for Gauteng to Namibia + 3500kms in Nam

What tekkies would you recommend for a GS1200(not A) to go from Gauteng to Nam and play there for about 3500km and back?
Would you put them on in GP or buy/ship them closer to the border and put them on there?
I'm hearing Heidenau's and Mitas being mumbled.
