Bikes and pets

I'm  a student living in a commune, and travel back home on the bike for holidays. Not having a car limits what i can carry a bit, specifically regarding pets, as i cant leave it alone at the commune. Im looking into maybe getting a sugar glider, as it seems they are happy to sit in your shirt pocket, or in a pouch around your neck all day, kind of like people in the army used to do with bush babies, and thus should be ok to travel with on the bike. This got me wondering about pets and bikes, as i've seen some videos of dogs riding with on bikes. Anyone have a pet that rides with on the bike, or recommendations for bike-travel friendly pets?
