I was poking around on the interweb and found an article on BMW Motorcycle Owners of America about adding the Police RT's oil cooler fan to civilian RT's. URL is https://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17024
I was wondering if anyone on the forum has done this to their R1200, or any other oil cooler equipped R for that matter.
I can't say I've ever seen my oil temp rise too much on the GSA, but I think that's mainly because I don't use the GSA for commuting. I will keep an eye on it for the next while.
Supposedly with the oil cooler fan installed on the bike, it can be left idling for hours. I heard of a dominie that left his RT idling after getting a frantic call from a parishioner (some sort of crisis), only to come back a while later to a seized bike.
On the face of it, it might be a good idea to retro fit this oil cooler fan?
