I have been through the Helskloof pass in the Richtersveld, travelled Southern Namibia, the Cederberg and down Gamkaskloof with this topbox.
Never had any issues with the mounting or carrier. When I bought it, BMW said I got the newer design carrier. It works. :deal:
The topbox has a few minor scuff marks (scraped against a wal at home when turning the bike in a tight spot every morning).
I changed to soft luggage and the box is now sitting under my desk, acting as a foot stool.
