I fitted an aftermarket pipe and my bike is running lean?
An aftermarket pipe exaggerates poor fueling issues and moves the power curve up the rpm range. A BoosterPlug restores the balance by adding 6% more fuel, bringing the engine back to a an AFR (air fuel ratio) of 13,6:1 instead of the 14,7:1 factory setting.
How does the BoosterPlug add 6% more fuel?
BoosterPlug has its own temperature sensor measuring the REAL ambient temperature, and not that of the heat soaked airbox. This alone makes a huge difference in traffic. The BoosterPlug then tricks the EFI into thinking that it is 20°C colder than ambient temp, resulting in a 6% increase in AFR.
What about the Lambda (O2) sensor?
The BoosterPlug still allows the Lambda Sensor to do its work – maintaining good fuel consumption and protecting the engine from damaging lean mixtures. Tampering with the O2 sensor is not advised. The BoosterPlug works when the Lambda sensor is too slow to measure exhaust O2 levels, just when you need it most – under acceleration, deceleration, at idle and starting.
