I recently purchased a used F800GS and even though the front RIM was not too bad and wanted to figure how to build a new RIM. I purchased an EXCEL RIM and Haan spoke set for the std F800 hub. Found and bought a donor F800GS front wheel.
1. strip donor hub, started by removing spokes individually [kak job] took angle grinder to finish off
2. cleaned and painted the donor hub
3. laced spokes into new rim
4. viola, new and slick
5. need to fit new tire
Admittedly I needed help with the lacing and balancing but next time I will get better at it.
