Hi Guys!
I recently bought a very nicely restored XT500 Yamaha. I spoke an XT expert regarding some additional work I wanted done, and mentioned that the frame had been powdercoated. He responded to this by saying that I might as well throw the frame away, as the heat of the coating process anneals the metal to such an extent, that it is to soft to be safe. At what temp. is the powdercoating baked on? Surely it cannot be so high as to change the molecular structure of the metal? If anybody know's if there is any truth to this (it seems very unlikely to me), then please let me know.
Thanks !
