Is chain tension the same for on and off road bikes? I had a chain a sprockets fitted to my KLR 600 by a reputable fitment centre and it seems a tad loose.
I know road bikes should ahve a little play but not too much but I only noticed how loose the chain was when I got home and haven't taken the machine back to ask the fiters. To give you an idea I can fold the chain to about a 40 degree angle before it feels tight and when at rest it lies on the top of the swingarm (only just) and the bottom is able to travel about 8cm from top to bottom when I lift it and pull it down.
Do DS and offroad bikes need more play due to the longer suspension travel?
