I kept an eye on the weather the whole week, by Friday morning nothing much has changed and rain was predicted
for most of the weekend over the Gamkaskloof area, the trip has been planned and booked way in advance and a bit of rain was not going to scare us off.

We left late and by the time we got to Worcester it was dark, with all the traffic to Robertson's Wacky Wine festival
it was not ideal but we got to our overnight spot in Barrydale in one piece.

The next day was mostly drizzle, until we reach the top of the Swarberg pass. The drizzle changed in to a steady downpour and the thermometer hit 5 degrees, for a second we might
have considered bailing to Prince Albert, luckily common sense prevailed and we soldiered on.

Luckily, because after about 5km's of rain, mud and tough going, the skies cleared.

We spent the night in Jan Eentand's house on the Boplaas farm.

The next day was fantastic, the road now mostly dry and no rain in sight.

The last night we stayed over at Shanti on the border of the Gamkaberg reserve before hitting the R62 back home.
