commuting - pollution

For the guys commuting everyday - do you think exhaust gasses / pollution is an issue?

Cars (I believe?) filters out most harmful gasses, but moving through traffic everyday on a bike would expose you to heavy levels of pollution - have any of you taken measures to counter this?
