I have posted this in bobnobs thread a while ago - but i have noticed more people are experiencing similar problems (yet another WEAK point in the Dakar). i hope you don't mind me reposting it to make searching easier.
my bike was giving me some problems, and the symptoms were simple. i turned the bars and EVERYTHING went off.... so i stripped the bike down a bit to see if i could find the problem.
I then pin pointed where the problem was. the loom that runs from the bottom of the ignition was messing around. i cut the loom open to find a wire had broken clean in two. simple fix, just soldered a bit of extra wire in, and moved the loom for more free play.
this was due to the wire getting old, and just breaking clean in two.
