De-catted 990 Adventure

Hi guys,

Question on behalf of a friend - 2012 KTM 990 Adventure, he has recently had the cats cut out. Made a massive difference to performance. My question is is it okay to just leave it like that or does the bike need additional tuning/blue printing. I have heard that they do but not 100% sure and don't want to burn valves etc...
