Tibbie - Suzuki DR 650 SE

A bit of back ground on the bike:
My wife, Nadine, and I moved to Namibia almost 2 years ago. We bought this beauty for Nadine as she was keen to get into adventure biking. It was bought with the help of Morokai (a passionate DR owner himself) in Cape Town then we trailered it up to Nam. Unfortunately on one of the first outings on the bike Nadine fell in a patch of sand and broke her leg (left tib and fib off). Plus side of this is the bike got christened: Tibbie, Tibbie bone breaker. After the recovery Nadine was too scared of the big heavy machine and we bought a little DT 175 for her to learn on. Even now after she is confident on the small bike, the DR still intimidates her. Hence this add, I am sure there is someone out the who can use this bike to its maximum potential. I took it on a trip or two while here to keep the batteries charged and the oil flowing, or when a friend visited, but other than that it had been standing in the garage for the vast majority of the year and a half we’ve had it here.
The bike is stock standard except a few things:
• Suspension has been lowered according to owner’s manual by Superfoxi
• Foldable mirrors have been installed
• Homemade luggage rack fitted (bought it with this)
• Removed the clutch lever starting mechanism (where the clutch has to be pulled in to start)
• Removed the side stand cut out switch (was not functioning properly when bought)
The bike is licensed in my name, the disc is expired at the moment but will I sort that out in August this year when in CT
It comes with a top box – I would have to double check on the make and volume, but it is substantial size and still in good nick with a mounting plate
Trail wing T41/42 combo front and rear, both good as new. Have a brand new spare T42 rear as well.
The bike was serviced by Morokai and me after the purchase. This included:
Oil and filter change
Clean air filter
New spark plugs
Treating of rusty spots with rust converter
EDIT: New and sprockets were bought but not fitted as the existing ones are still fine. Thus a new chain and sprocket set will come with the bike
Damage to the bike:
The clutch lever was broken during an off in the sand, but it has been replaced with a stock lever that has been shortened
There is a scratch on the RHS of the fuel tank from when bikes behaved like dominoes on an unstable parking spot
I am not currently at home so cannot take nice close up pics at the moment. I will get some soon though for those who are interested. Where I am uncertain of things like the sprockets and top box above, I will double check when home again and confirm ASAP, possibly next week.
The bike is in Namibia at the moment, but we plan to come down to Cape Town in mid-August this year. This is when the bike will be available for collection. I will get the license disc renewed before transfer, but not necessarily put it through roadworthy as I don’t know how much time I will have.
