Ever since This Ride Report the thought of doing a Dusty Butt 1,600k in 24 hrs ride has played with my mind.
1600km or 1000 miles in 24hrs with as much of it being gravel hi-ways, can this even be done?
Are there enough linked gravel roads to do this?
Am I the only one thinking of this? ::)

Well playing with Google Earth yesterday answered yes to at least one of the three questions.
There are 1600km of linked gravel roads that can be ridden, in reasonable conditions too. :ricky:

The route that came up was:
Ceres – R355 Calvinia – 255km
Calvinia - R355 Louriesfontein - 80km
Louriesfontein - R357 Brandvlei - 120km
Brandvlei - R357 Van Wyksvlei - 145km
Van Wyksvlei - R361 Kenhardt - 140km
Kenhardt – Gravel Pofadder - 200km
Pofadder - R358 Kliprand - 200km
Kliprand - R357 Louriesfontein - 85km
Louriesfontein - R355 Calvinia - 80km
Calvinia - R355 Ceres - 255km
Total - 1560km + 40km of wheelspin. :mwink:

This kind of ride would definitely need backup so if you are along this route and would like to offer backup for part of the way, it will really be welcomed.
Any tyre sponsors too :thumleft:

If you would want to do this ride then put your name here. :3some:

See from page four (4) for more up to date planning and final date :thumleft:
