Dutton Motors was established in 1956 under sole ownership of Mr. Peter and Bob Dutton. Mr. Bob Dutton was still involved until August 2012. On 15 August 2012 the shareholding of Dutton Volkswagen changed hands to Mr. Selwyn and Rory Plitt.
They are very experienced in the motor trade industry with a very successful business in Vereeniging operating in their family as Vereeniging Auto (Motors) since the 1940's.
Dutton Volkswagen has won the coveted ''Volkswagen Club of Excellence Award'' for a record six times. This award is based on customer satisfaction for services rendered.
Dutton Volkswagen is the biggest independent Volkswagen dealer in the Free State, and offers a comprehensive after sales service with fully trained staff and a comprehensive parts department. Dutton Volkswagen has a wide selection of used cars as well as being part of the Volkswagen country wide Mastercar supplier network.
Dutton Volkswagen also has an Engen fuel franchise and is one of the largest fuel retailers in the Vaal Triangle. The company has a staff of 75 of which some have been with the company for more than 30 years. Dutton Volkswagen has recently been rated a level 7 BEE contributor.
