I've been toying with the idea to do a "rough-it" trip around to Darlington dam. Doing it this Friday & Saturday following mostly gravel and doing the trip Anti-clockwise.

Here is the +- plan:

Friday:
Leave PE at 2pm
Go over Addo (fill with fuel)
Take Zuurberg pass up North then west to Darlington Dam.

Overnight in tent next to Darlington dam.
Distance/ Time (roughly - as the idea is to explore):
+- 200km /  4h30min

Notes:
I'll have to carry 5 liter extra petrol (only have 200-220km fuel tank range)
Sunset is at 19:30

Saturday
On Saturday I  have to be in Patensie.
So need to leave Darlington Dam very early. (Sunrise is at 5:30am)
Two return route options:
1) Darlington – Kirkwood – Uitenhage – Patensie  ( 280km +- 5h)
2) Darlington – Steylterville – Grootriver poort – Patensie  ( 215km / 5-6h)

Does anyone have any suggestions / comments?  Especially about fuel close to Darlington dam, interesting places to see and camping at the dam?

Any dawgs keen to join are welcome.  The usual ones are all full of excuses ;-)
