Fri22-Sun24 June from Dbn (KZN) Battlefields & other Ride
My enduro riding mate Mike and I have planned a three day trip around Natal from the Friday 22nd to Sun 24th of June. Be warned that Mike is usually called ‘Mad Mike’ and he has never worked out the difference between road, track & bundu. Day1 330km. Meet at Waterfall Engen garage corner of Inanda/Link Rd S29.75003 E30.81526 at 7.15am to leave at 7.30am(10/6/12 now 6.45am to leave 7.00am). Scoot through 1khills for breakfast at Greytown Wimpy. Then to The Kop, Kranskop. Shu Shu. Cetshaywo’s grave probably a step too far but see https://samilitaryhistory.org/vol024kg.html Then Jameson’s drift, waterfall & packed lunch to Babanago Valley to see caves & old copper mine. Accom at Babanango Valley 6bed cottage @R350 pp self catering. Phone 0827097951. Have also used Babanango hotel, cheap & cheerful.
Day2 360km See Isandlwana, Blood River on way to to breakfast Dundee Wimpy. Explore Nelson’s Kop, Tandjesberg on way to Harrismith. Summit Tafelberg at Harrismith. Make way to top of escarpment Strekfontien and see Retief’s camp, Kaalvoetvrou if time. Stay at Windmill cottages 2 bed unit at R360 self catering 5 units left Andrew0724497666.
Day3 300km See anything not covered Sat. Bundu bash to Bezuidenhouts pass and descend same to visit Spioenkop battlesite. Shoot home on N3.
