Hello, let us introduce ourselves: We are Marly and Dave, 2 Dutchies, and we riding across the whole of Africa on 2 Honda NX250 motorbikes, from Amsterdam to Cape Town.
We are now in Malawi, so almost there, but we have run into a technical problem.
We have a worn front sprocket on 1 of the bikes. The chain and rear sprocket are still fine, but the front is completely gone... Does anybody know where to find a front sprocket for a Honda NX250 here in Malawi? It is a seemingly standard 13 teeth sprocket, but with a difference... All the sprockets for all the bikes here (Honda 250, Yamaha 250) have sprockets with 6 slots in the inner hole, where the outgoing shaft goes. But our bike has a sprocket that has 11 slots in the inner hole. So 13 teeth outside and 11 slots inside. We have been lokking from South Tanzania for a sprocket lke that, but we found notging. Any ideas what our chances are in the bigger cities in South Malawi or where we should look? many thanks in advance for any ideas!
