Calling all Wild Dogs.
Come join Jaqhama and me on our Southern Cape experience of 16 passes and several ?Kloofs? and ?Poorte?. This is a 4 day weekend, so with some leave you could turn it into a 10 day holiday.
So far the route looks like this:
Depart from George on Friday the 6th to cross the Outeniqua Mountains via the Montagu Pass. From there the route will follow Paarde Poort, Heimersrivier, Zebra, cross the Robertson Pass and we?ll ride the Historical Attakwas Pass (More info: https://wilddogtours.co.za/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4194 Note ? we?ll be traveling in the opposite direction than the ride on the report.). This is Nature conservation area and we?ll have to be with a NR accredited guide. The first night we?ll camp at Bonniedale Adventure farm ( https://www.bonniedale.com/Bonniedale_accomodation/The_Kamma_River_Camp/the_kamma_river_camp.html ).
Day 2 we?ll travel through the historical Attakwas kloof, past the ghost town Woeska, over private land. Then we?ll cross the Rooiberg Pass ( https://wilddogtours.co.za/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4187 ) and travel through the Klein Karoo to the Swartberg pass and on into Gamkaskloof / Die Hell ( https://wilddogtours.co.za/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4413 ) where we?ll stay on the 2nd night.
On day 3 we?ll backtrack out of The Hell and back over Swartberg Pass to follow the Oude Muragie road past the ?Rust & Vrede? Waterfall ( https://wilddogtours.co.za/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4498 ), past Dysseldorp and follow the Buffelsdrift road through the Langkloof to Louvain ( https://www.louvain.co.za/accommodation.htm ) where we?ll camp for the night.
On day 4 we?ll cross the Outeniqua Mountains via the Ox wagon route and pass Karatara to follow the 7 passes road ( https://wilddogtours.co.za/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4253 ) to Knysna where we?ll meet BoJangles for a brunch / early lunch (if she?s not in the group already :roll:
). From there it?s the Prince Alfred Pass to De Vlugt and Avontuur and on the Baviaans where we?ll sleep in a cave! Jan se Bak - https://www.makkedaat.co.za/camping.htm
On day 5 we?ll do the Baviaans Kloof proper to Patensie from where Jaqhama will continue to PE and eventually Michus. Patensie is where I?ll have to break off the group to get home (I?ll probably backtrack the Kloof, sleep at the cave again and return to George the next day). Nothing stops the E. Cape guys from planning the route further?
Notes on the route: On day 1 & 2 we?ll have a tour guide as we?ll be traveling NR areas and private land. Total km?s is not much on day 1, so maybe we can leave at around 11. That should give the guys some more time to get here. Day 2 has more km, day 3 less and day 4 more again.
At this stage it seems as if Stephen and Red can also make it, so it?s at least 5 bikes already. Maybe we can also ?render? a clown to liven up the party. :joker: :blob7: :cheers:
Who else is in? Transalpman? Offroad Adventurer and your group? LS you can do the route, but cut out the hell on the Saturday and sleep in Oudtshoorn to attend the Kaktus op die Vlaktus show? Lots and lots of possibilities to join / leave the group on any given day.
