my sister, bro-in-law and I were at his parents' place in Volksrust over Christmas, where we hunted down some geocaches.
the first one was hidden somewhere among mass graves of fallen 58th Regiment soldiers... we had to bundu-bash through thick forest for almost an hour before we found the graves and the cache.... it was worth it, quite moving to see the place where those soldiers were entombed. i know they were the enemy and so on, but still..... RIP 58th...
two more were hidden on Majuba mountain (there are 5 caches on Majuba - we still needed to find 2). after a nice little hour's hike up Majuba, we scouted around, read some of the history and had a look at the memorials and graves. we found both caches on opposite sides of the mountain.
the view is well worth the climb - the surrounding valleys are really lush and green.
