Ok, after the spill nearly 3 months ago, I have survived a motorcar accident and various other issues. The result is that I have not fixed Gertrude, in fact, I have done NOTHING to her, except leave her standing with the battery on a smart charger for the period.

Now she will not run decently. She struggles to start and when running at about 2000-3000 revs backfires constantly. She will not idle.

It is probably not fuel related, as the engine backfires, i.e. unburnt fuel is leaving the cylinders. What would cause the ignition, i.e. spark to be intermittent? The engine runs rough, then evens out, then rough again etc, my guess one cylinder is loafing along.

I laid her down on the left side, so the Hall sensor? (little black box) could be damaged although it appears fine when visually checked.

Any ideas where to troubleshoot this one?
