A local young couple (long time friends of mine), on holiday from skippering a 70ft cat in the BV Islands, just bought a F800 GS and a Sertao on Wednesday. Today I took them from George via the back roads to 8 Bells and back. Now they want to do the hell next week.
I've been to the hell a few times in a cage but not on 2 wheels, hence I never bothered to check the distances, but found its a whole day trip.
How far is the round trip, plus filling in Oudtshoorn will the bikes make it, or do we have to take extra petrol. I'm on an airhead with 24 litre tank which only gives me between 13 & 17 km/Lt depending on the twist.
We will be watching the weather carefully as a sudden snowfall could keep us there for a few days. They only have next week as they are scheduled to do Botswana and Nam end of next week.
