Hi All
As I mentioned in my Intro I work in the IT industry and do
photography part time - Well I bought a garmin nuvi 310 GPS
to get to the bride , groom , reception and then home again.
It is a auto router GPS , with voice guidance and has a lot
of other extras e.g. MP3 player etc.
Well it worked fine for the car , but hmmmm what about the bike
I wanted to use the voice guidance with my helmet, but did not
want any cables etc. also how do I water proof it
Well this is my solution , also this would work with any
device that has a 3.5mm ear phone socket (ipod, mp3 player etc.)
First off bought a BlueCON 35 II Dongle (Bluetooth transmitter)
and a i.Tech Clip R35 receiver - from the gadget shop in Pretoria
(Can plug any earphones into the receiver )
here is the link to the gadget shop in Pretoria ( Brooklyn Mall)
https://www.thegadgetshop.co.za/details.php?file=&productid=270
The receiver can either clip to the helmet strap , velcro inside of helmet
etc. I clipped it to my shirt collar with my jacket over the collar
I then put the GPS into my tank bag ( Wear the map would go )
I can now see the display , hear the voice prompts and most
important speed trap warnings and it is Dust and Waterproof.
and with the bag it receives less shock than when mounted to
the bike
I tested this today and at 160km/h (oops mean 120 KMH )
I can hear the music and voice prompts clearly
Hope this is of interest
thanks
