So I've also had intermittent problems with my HID not starting every time.
See HID woes and a trick or two for more details.
Anyway this weekend the main beam stopped working completely and I stripped and tested the lot....and found this... (at least it was not intermittent anymore)

I found the cause and it ended up being quite simple. The negative connection to the ballast was off. On the 990 there's only space for one ballast under the instrument panel so the other goes in one of the side panels. In this case the ballast in the side panel came loose and were bobbing along wearing through the connection and on Sunday it just broke off.
So I contacted Adventurer (the supplier of my HID's) and it's simple "pop in, I have spares". Not only did I get the replacement cable for free, he was quite willing to help me install the new cable. That's where I drew the line - we could rather have coffee, I'll install it later, thanks....
Thanks Adventurer - that's great service :thumleft: (and a pleasure to do business with you)
BTW it's been more than a year since it's been installed so it's not a warranty case.
