After cooling off in the bubbly spa bath I heard this hellish, demonic whisper, calling me again to the dirt side, and could not resist.
On the bike again and up the Swartberg pass. A really scenic ride, to be taken slowly in order to savor the sights and smells and the differing textures of the surroundings and the road. The road seems much worse than I remember it, with washaways and furrows here and there.
At the Gamkaskloof turnoff I was seduced to ride ever further, past the Otto Duplessis monument/cairn thing, past the trees that are no longer â?? now just logs at the side of the road, through the sand trap that nearly caught me unawares, ever further, past the first little water featurette, just a little further.
I turned around just after the first waterfall and retraced to PA after an enjoyable ride.
Here are some pics â?? plan C â?? sorry that is all I have at the moment.
