help, klr backfired than died

On the way to work a friends klr backfired than died. When we stripped to check found we had no compression. Took the head off and if you shine a light against the intake valves there is light coming through. The valve clearance was with in speck.

Any idea wat could have caused this. 2007 new shape with just over 30000km, bike is ridden hard daily to work and back, 60km round trip but never used much oil
