Hi all,
We are organising a trip through the Himalayas from Manali (Himachal Pradesh) through to Ladakh over 5 of the worlds' highest motor-able passes, the highest one being Rohtang La at 5602m.
On this trip, we will all be riding well-maintained Royal Enfield Bullets - Classic - 500cc machines. To ensure we actually get to ride the mountains, a mechanic will come along on tour (this is great, since i know of some people who flew there, got their bikes and had to quit their trip because of engine trouble). There is also a backup vehicle & photographer on-board.
The following video clip gives an idea of what to expect on the ride:

I have started a Face Book page for this trip:
https://www.facebook.com/IndiaMotorcycleExpeditionsLadakhTripSeptember2013
This page was started for people interested in the trip, to communicate and ask questions ...
For more info, please look at the Motorcycle Expeditions website - we are doing the fixed departure date trip through Ladakh, purely so we can catch the Ladakh festival in action.

By now, I've travelled with Buddhi Singh Chand from Motorcycle Expeditions for about 3months & 8000km through India, south to north and have found him to be trustworthy and easy to get along with. Since he grew up in the Himalayas and has done every sort of trekking and climbing through them, he is also an excellent source of information on everything from culture to nature in the area. He also speaks the local dialects which helps tremendously in getting around.
