I know this is a DS forum, but I thought you guys might be interested in my latest project...
So yesterday I bought a 2007 Fireblade from a friend of mine that dropped it. I got the bike for a total steal and wanted to convert it into a track orientated bike. I own a 2002 VFR 800 which does the daily grind, and will continue to do so.
Here are some pictures of the VFR...
How I got the fireblade
I knew the bike was straight and most of the damage was cosmetic, however the bike was spewing water out when turned on. Once stripped I was able to find the fault, a crushed aluminum pipe that runs down the side of the bike. The brake lever, and fairing stay on the front of the bike were also bent and pushed around. I bent them back as best as I could, but they will probably need to be adjusted once the new fairings arrive.
Damaged water pipe.
Mangled brakes and throttle
Everything bent back, still need to fit a new throttle housing and get new levers.
The bike fully stripped...
Once the bank account recovers, I'll be replacing the following to get the bike running sweet:
Both levers
Throttle housing
Radiator connector
Flush the radiator (done already)
bleed through the brakes and clutch (done already)
Then on to the cosmetics, new fairings and mirrors. I'm thinking of going for the Honda Rothmans colours as the repsol colours have become too common on the roads. What do you guys think?
