Bought and rode my first bike (KTM 1290 adventure) in fit of near insanity two years ago at age 65 (response to long time dream to travel far and wide). Did not turn out too bad as my pillion, Elsabe (mother of Janco of Specialised Adventures) is fearless (jumped on before I had done 50 km) and of perfect balance en demeanour. Only mistake was to fit wifi intercom as I now have to listen to her saying "don't be a pissy - go faster".
Recently bought second-hand Honda XR650L on recommendation of Janco and ridden Kaokoland with the likes of Chopperpilot, Oubones, Straatkat and 11 other great guys. Now totally hooked on the sport.
