How to adjust a Throttle Position Sensor.

I have to check the TPS on my SWM RS500R. I asked Cecil, one of the nicest, and most knowledgeable bike mechanics to help. Do it yourself he says:

1. Find the Throttle Position Sensor on the bike.
2. Mark it – make a scratch mark with a blade. Tippex is too inaccurate.
3. Loosen the little screw.
4. Move that TPS 1mm clockwise. Start the bike, check idle, ride it, feel throttle response, check flat spots.
5. Write your remarks down! You will forget, so write down what you felt. Was it better, was it worse?
6. Go back anticlockwise 1mm. Write down again.
7. You will pick up changes immediately, when riding, feel the throttle response. Go 1.5 or 2 mmm. But usually you will find the sweet spot within 1mm either way. 1mm is enough to give a big enough range to feel the change. Setting the TPS is not difficult. You need an hour to experiment. But it is best to test it yourself. You are more familiar with the bike, and probably know it better than anyone else.
8. Lastly, you have the scratch mark, so you can reset the TPS to the original setting at any time. No harm done.
