First off, I know nothing about Mobile Phones (or cell phones - not sure what you call them in Southern Africa). I'm currently in the UK and heading to South Africa in March. I will spend 3 months biking around Southern Africa. At the moment I don't have a phone of any sort. But I want/need one for my 3 month trip (possibly one with a GPS or should I gte that seperately?).
My question is what sort of phone should I get? What can I get in Cape Town that will work throughout the region? What sort of price? Which company? Would it make sense to buy in the UK (If you know) What networks have the best reach throughout the region?
Advice as simple as - an i phone is a really good idea as it has great coverage or a really bad idea beacause it won't work would be great. Thanks
