I've noticed how motorcycles in SA are pretty expensive, nearly double USA pices. Probably due to heavy import taxes.
Anyway are used parts subject to much import duty?
When I'm done with my ride in Argentina I was thinking of taking my USA registered KLR apart and mailing it in pieces to SA.
Then buying a wrecked KLR in SA with proper paperwork and put it all together and have SA registered bike for the African leg of my adventure.
It's not practical to legally bring a USA registered bike with carnet de passage into SA.
