Well the updated version is finally available - 17 June 2009 (USA)
the Apple iPhone 3G S
added stuff the second gen didn't have:
1. More processing power - apps said to run twice as fast
2. Video camera with editing software - instant YouTube uploadability
3. 3mpix camera with auto and manual focus (depth of field)
4. pics can be e-mailed, posted on web or MMS'ed
5. Voice recognition control - open any contact or any song in iTunes with a voice comand - no voice-tags neccessary
6. Real time Compass
7. auto north orientation on maps (now with improved google Maps and Google Earth images)
8. Cut, copy and Paste any piece of text - usable in any text based app, web page, messaging function
9. Message forwarding - a feature sorely lacking. Lots of new messaging features, some not found on any other cellphone
10. Accessibility - new features aiding deaf and and visually impaired people
11. Internet tethering - will automatically search out the best way to connect to the net. Can even log onto the net with a standard USB cable
12. Voice memos
13. Fitness sensor - use a Nike fitness sensor (sold seperately) to send fital statistics to phone and monitor workout history
